Renaissance Musical Instruments

The Renaissance period of history is a time that dates back to the 15th & 16th centuries. In Europe, it is marked in history as the time period of transitioning from the Middle Ages to the modern era and it’s a place in history full of cultural expression of the arts; and music was an integral part. During the Renaissance, there were a number of musical instruments that became the staples of the time period, but perhaps none more so than the lute. However, harps and other stringed instruments such as guitars also had their place.

If you have a particular interest in the Renaissance period of history and in particular, the types of instruments used and you would love to own and play one, then I can help as a Renaissance musical instruments luthier. Whilst your instrument will be handcrafted today, I use the traditional instrument making methods that date back to the Renaissance for true authenticity. Great care is taken at every step of the instrument making process, from selecting the base wood to carving your instrument, stringing and including attractive Renaissance designs.
